The Kinsmen Club of Port Alberni was founded by Harold Warren in 1936,
(owned the theater and the radio station at one time) as our first president and has provided services and funding for many projects in the Valley, Canada and abroad.
In 1946 the Kinsmen took over running the local agriculture fair at request of the
Farmer Institute and formed the Alberni District Fall Fair Association, an organization running primarily by the Port Alberni Kinsmen in which it owned grounds.
The Milk for Britain campaign during the Second World War was a great success helping those abroad, while here in Canada we assisted in disasters like the floods in Manitoba a few years ago while here in the Valley we assisted in raising funding for Katy Crosby and formed the Save A life Foundation for Valley residents that have life threatening diseases which require expensive treatments and are facing financial hardship.
The club has been very active in the community, helping tidal wave victims in 1964 and building the community Health Center in Alberni. More recently building park playgrounds, raising Canadian flags around our community, helping Bread of Life and literacy in the valley.
If you like to give back to your community, grow personally and make new friends give us a call or drop in on a meeting!
Being a member is rewarding, one grows personally while serving the community and along the way make many new friends. Out motto is
"Grow, Learn Make new Friends."
